Dog in front of Drovers Retreat
Dog-Friendly Stays at Drovers Retreat
““One of our dogs is dog reactive and therefore nervous, and can never switch off on walks. I can honestly say I have never seen him so happy and relaxed since we got here.”
Lucy, Ryan and dogs, January 2025”
A holiday feels even better when your dog can come too. At Drovers Retreat, well-behaved dogs are warmly welcomed to join you for a proper countryside escape, with private woodland to explore, self-guided walks from the door and wildlife all around.
We have included a few thoughtful touches to help your four-legged guest settle in, so you can spend less time packing and more time enjoying time away together.
A countryside break your dog can enjoy too
Drovers Retreat is a family and dog-friendly cottage for guests who want to swap everyday routines for fresh air, open countryside and time together. Step outside for walks straight from the front door, explore the private woodland and enjoy a slower pace of life with your dog by your side.
What is provided for dogs at Drovers Retreat?
To help make your stay simpler, we provide a complimentary pet bed and bowls for your visit. Your dog will also receive welcome dog biscuits.
These little extras mean there is less to bring with you and a warmer welcome from the moment you arrive.
Woodland and walks from the door
Dogs need a holiday too, and Drovers Retreat gives them space to sniff, explore and enjoy the great outdoors. Our fenced 3-acre private woodland and the seating area behind the cottage offer special places to discover together, while self-guided walks from the front door make it easy to get out into the surrounding countryside without getting back in the car.
Please keep an eye out for the wildlife that shares this beautiful part of Wales.
“Our dogs settled in very quickly, and loved the many walks, with all the sights, smells and sounds that dogs love.
”
Our dog-friendly house rules
We welcome well-behaved dogs and ask that they stay off the beds and furniture during your visit. Dogs must also be kept on a lead outside the property, as the area’s farming mostly involves sheep, which are easily frightened by dogs.
We have a charge per dog per stay - please see our booking page for details.
Thank you for helping us keep Drovers Retreat enjoyable for every guest, on two legs and four.
Planning your stay with your dog
If you are planning a break with your dog, Drovers Retreat offers the simple things that make a difference: countryside on the doorstep, practical dog essentials provided and a private woodland to enjoy together.
Before you travel, please make sure you bring anything specific your dog needs, including their usual food, medication and towels for muddy paws.
Walking with your best friends in our Woodland Area
““Although we couldn’t do the really long walks because of our dog’s arthritis, the short gentle strolls we did were wonderfully peaceful and relaxing… Thank you for the dog treats.”
